Additional causes supported by BBGL

Being embedded in Laos and with its members being integrated in the business environment and wider Lao society, the BBGL also wishes to contribute to the development and well-being of Lao society. BBGL, in additional to adopting three local charities, also has supported the following initiatives:

The Solidarity Canteen                                                  SEPTEMBER 2020

In response to the Covid-19 pandemic and the resultant unemployment and financial hardships faced by those with limited financial resources, The Solidarity Canteen was set up in Luang Prabang by building upon the excess capacity and goodwill of the hospitality sector to offer free meals to the poor and needy. The BBGL was proud to be able to offer a platform to share this initiative and directly raised over 1 000 000 kip by holding a networking event in September 2020. Platform for Hospitality Sector Covid-19 Initiatives                      SEPTEMBER 2020

The September 2020 networking event also saw a promotional platform given to two initiatives supporting the hospitality industry in Laos:

  • Lao Thiao Lao

The Lao Thiao Lao domestic marketing campaign is being led by the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI) and supported by the Skills for Tourism Project, and aims to encourage Lao and people living inside Lao to travel within the country and support the businesses that have been so hard hit by Covid-19. Inthy Deuansavanh, leading the initiative on behalf of the LNCCI was invited to speak as the same event.

  • Fly Eat Travel

Another initiative proposed by Lao Airlines to encourage people inside Laos to use the tourism infrastructure, called Fly Eat Travel, was given a platform to present their vision and offers. Phoutthasinh Keoka from Lao Airlines gave a slide presentation.
